How to Convert PDF to Word
Someone sends you a contract as a PDF and asks for your edits. The original Word file is long gone, or maybe it never existed. Retyping the whole thing is the last resort. What to Expect from Any PDF to Word Converter
Here's something most converter sites won't tell you: a PDF doesn't contain paragraphs, headings, or columns. It contains thousands of individually positioned characters with coordinates. The format was designed to print identically everywhere, not to be edited. So every PDF to Word converter, including the expensive server-based ones, has to reconstruct the document structure by guessing from character positions and font sizes.
The upgraded converter now does more of that reconstruction in the browser: headings, paragraphs, bullets, likely tables, and multi-column reading order are detected before the DOCX is built. Layout-aware mode keeps line breaks more aggressively for forms, invoices, and dense pages, but it can create extra pages. In our published fidelity challenge, Editable produced the cleaner default result.
One more thing to know: if your PDF is a scan or a photo of a document, there may be no text layer at all. PDF to Word can now OCR those pages locally, or you can use the standalone OCR tool when you only need extracted text.
Why Convert PDF to Word in Your Browser
Think about what people actually convert to Word: contracts, leases, resumes, legal filings, medical letters, financial statements. These are some of the most sensitive documents a person handles, and the standard advice is to upload them to a stranger's server and trust a retention policy. That trade never made sense to us.
